The Psychopath Objection to Divine Command Theory

Abstract: Recently, Erik Wielenberg has developed a novel objection to divine command meta-ethics (DCM). The that DCM "has the implausible implication psychopaths have no moral obligations and hence their evil acts, matter how evil, are morally permissible". This article criticizes Wielenberg's argument. Section 1 will expound new "psychopath" argument in context of recent debate over Promulgation Objection. 2 discuss two ambiguities argument; particular, Wielenberg’s formulation is ambiguous between whether uses word "obligation" an objective or subjective sense. 3 argue this ambiguity undercuts If using obligation sense, his arguments do not show "have obligations". By contrast, if Divine theorists committed denying obligations.
